Johan John - Writer/Director
Inspired at an early age by Francois Truffaut’s “400 Blows” as well as the works of Akira Kurosawa and Federico Fellini, Johan took his first steps towards a film career working in Underwater Colors Productions, doubling up as a tape operator and a camera assistant on a number of documentaries and corporate videos before attendingAkedemi Filem Malaysia, where he studied film. After a year he moved on to work as an off line editor and Sound designer for 3 years, working on films such as “Haru Biru”
and U‐Wei haji Saari's “Sepohon Pokok Rambutan Yang Indah”.
In 2006, he started work on his first film behind the camera, a short film entitled "Tajuk Cerita" which he wrote, edited and directed and was nominated at the Anugerah Skrin 2006. He worked on his second short film at the end of 2006 entitled "Semalam", starring Sharifah Aleya and Vanida Imran.
Early 2007, Johan started directing programs for Astro Ria and Astro Crime and Investigation Network. During that year, he finished his third short film entitled "Kita", starring Khir Rahman before writing and directing his first feature length film entitled "Andai" also starring Khir Rahman together with Melissa Maureen Rizal and Noorkhiriah.
Recently, Johan has also written and directed an episode for season 2 of the hit series “Ghost” currently on air on 8TV.
